DON’T LOSE YOUR HEAVENLY CROWN BY MICHAEL FELIX

DON’T LOSE YOUR HEAVENLY CROWN

In the Christian life, salvation is not the end of the journey—it is the beginning. Many people start well in their walk with God, but not everyone finishes well. The Bible warns believers to remain faithful, watchful, prayerful, and steadfast so they will not lose the reward prepared for them in heaven.

A heavenly crown is a symbol of victory, faithfulness, honor, and eternal reward given by God to those who endure to the end. God has prepared crowns for believers who love Him, obey Him, and remain faithful despite trials, temptations, persecutions, and distractions.

The tragedy is not only to begin the race and stop halfway, but to labor for years and lose the crown at the edge of eternity. This is why the message “Don’t Lose Your Heavenly Crown” is very important for every believer today.

Bible Texts

> “Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown.” — Holy Bible Revelation 3:11

> “And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible.” — 1 Corinthians 9:25

> “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness.” — 2 Timothy 4:7–8

What Is a Heavenly Crown?

A heavenly crown is not an earthly gold crown worn by kings. It is a spiritual reward given by God to faithful believers in eternity. It represents honor, victory, authority, joy, and eternal recognition before God.

The world gives temporary rewards, but heaven gives eternal rewards. Earthly riches fade away, but heavenly crowns last forever.

Different Crowns Mentioned in the Bible

1. The Crown of Life

Given to those who endure trials and remain faithful to God.

> “Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life.” — James 1:12

2. The Crown of Righteousness

Given to those who love the appearing of Christ and live holy lives.

> “There is laid up for me a crown of righteousness.” — 2 Timothy 4:8

3. The Incorruptible Crown

Given to believers who practice self-control and discipline in the Christian race.

> “They do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible.” — 1 Corinthians 9:25

4. The Crown of Glory

Given to faithful servants and shepherds of God’s people.

> “Ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away.” — 1 Peter 5:4

5. The Crown of Rejoicing

Given to soul winners and those who lead others to Christ.

> “For what is our hope, or joy, or crown of rejoicing?” — 1 Thessalonians 2:19

How Believers Lose Their Heavenly Crown

1. Through Sin and Worldliness

Many believers begin in the Spirit but later become entangled with the pleasures of the world. Sin weakens spiritual life and separates people from God.

The enemy uses lust, pride, greed, immorality, jealousy, and disobedience to pull believers away from their divine purpose.

> “Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world.” — 1 John 2:15

A person cannot walk closely with God while holding tightly to the sinful systems of the world.

---

2. Through Spiritual Carelessness

Some believers become spiritually lazy. They stop praying, stop studying the Word of God, and stop seeking the presence of God.

Little by little, spiritual fire begins to die.

> “Watch ye, stand fast in the faith.” — 1 Corinthians 16:13

The devil attacks sleeping Christians. A careless believer becomes vulnerable to temptation and deception.

---

3. Through False Doctrine and Deception

We live in dangerous times where many false teachings are spreading. Some teachings remove holiness, repentance, and obedience from the Gospel.

Jesus warned believers to be careful.

> “Take heed that no man deceive you.” — Matthew 24:4

Not every voice speaking about God is sent by God. Believers must test every teaching with Scripture.

---

4. Through Bitterness and Unforgiveness

Many people lose spiritual blessings because they refuse to forgive.

Bitterness poisons the heart and blocks fellowship with God. Jesus taught that we must forgive others just as God forgives us.

> “Forgive, and ye shall be forgiven.” — Luke 6:37

---

5. Through Giving Up During Trials

Some people follow God only when life is easy. But when persecution, hardship, delay, or suffering comes, they turn back.

The Christian race requires endurance.

> “Be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.” — Revelation 2:10

Your trial is not the end of your story. Hold on to God. The crown belongs to those who endure.

---

Esau: A Man Who Lost His Blessing

One of the saddest examples in Scripture is Esau. He exchanged his birthright for temporary pleasure.

> “Lest there be any fornicator, or profane person, as Esau.” — Hebrews 12:16

For one meal, he lost something precious.

Many believers today are trading eternal rewards for temporary pleasures, worldly relationships, fame, money, compromise, and sin.

Never exchange eternity for temporary satisfaction.

---

Demas: A Man Who Loved the World

Demas once worked with the Apostle Paul, but later abandoned the faith because he loved the present world.

> “Demas hath forsaken me, having loved this present world.” — 2 Timothy 4:10

You can be close to ministry activities and still lose your spiritual passion for God.

The love of the world can slowly steal a person’s heavenly crown.

How to Keep Your Heavenly Crown

1. Remain Faithful to Jesus

Stay close to God daily through prayer, worship, and obedience.

Christianity is not just attending church; it is a living relationship with Christ.

---

2. Study the Word of God

The Bible gives wisdom, correction, strength, and direction.

> “Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.” — Psalm 119:11

A believer who neglects God’s Word becomes spiritually weak.

---

3. Live a Holy Life

God calls His people to holiness.

> “Be ye holy; for I am holy.” — 1 Peter 1:16

Holiness means living separated from sin and dedicated to God.

---

4. Keep Watching and Praying

Prayer keeps spiritual fire alive and gives strength against temptation.

Jesus told His disciples:

> “Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation.” — Matthew 26:41

---

5. Endure Until the End

Do not quit because of challenges.

Do not allow disappointment to pull you away from God.

The race may be difficult, but heaven is worth it.

> “He that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.” — Matthew 24:13

---

The Greatest Reward Is Eternal Life With Christ

The crowns of heaven are wonderful, but the greatest reward is being with Jesus forever.

There will be no sorrow, pain, tears, sickness, or death in heaven.

Those who remain faithful will reign with Christ forever.

> “And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes.” — Revelation 21:4

What joy it will be to hear these words from Jesus:

> “Well done, thou good and faithful servant.” — Matthew 25:21

---

Conclusion

The Christian race is not for those who start only—it is for those who finish faithfully.

The devil fights hard because he knows the value of your crown. Do not allow sin, compromise, distractions, pride, bitterness, or the love of the world to steal what God has prepared for you.

Stay faithful in secret. Stay holy in a corrupt world. Stay prayerful in difficult times. Stay obedient when others compromise.

Your heavenly crown is precious. Guard it carefully.

> “Hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown.” — Revelation 3:11

May God give you grace to stand firm until the end, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
