GATE WAYS OF SATANIC COVENANTS – CONSULTING SPIRITS OR THE DEAD
Leviticus 19:31 NKJV says: “Give no regard to mediums and familiar spirits; do not seek after them, to be defiled by them: I am the Lord your God.”
One young man had a dream about his dead grandfather, who had passed away some years earlier. They had a very close relationship, and his grandfather had loved him very much. In the dream, the grandfather told him that he had now matured and it was time for him to get married. Because of that dream, the young man was deeply moved and decided to follow those instructions.
But this young man was a born-again Christian. So he went to his pastor and told him about the dream of his dead grandfather. The pastor told him, “You are not supposed to follow what familiar spirits tell you.” However, the young man replied, “It was my grandfather speaking to me. I must obey him because the Bible says we should obey our parents.”
The pastor explained, “That was not your grandfather. It was a demon using his face and voice.” But the young man refused to listen to his pastor. He went ahead, found a girl, and married her according to the instructions of his so-called grandfather.
A few months later, the young man became seriously ill. When he was taken to the hospital, it was discovered that he was HIV positive. His wife started to apologize, saying that she was the one who had infected him. It turned out that the woman was not a good person, and soon she left him. Because of the stress, his health worsened, and he eventually died.
Now, what I want you to learn from this story is this: Do not consult or follow anything that spirits of the dead tell you. The end is always destruction. It may look like wisdom, and in some of our cultures people consult these spirits for guidance, instructions, or answers about family matters or past issues—but it is completely wrong. The Bible says that we have the Holy Spirit; He will teach us all things (John 14:26) and show us things to come (John 16:13).
Some people say we must honor our parents or ancestors by consulting them, sacrificing to them, visiting their graves, or performing rituals and making wishes on their graves. *It is wrong.* Do not participate in any of these practices or even send someone to do them on your behalf.
When people ask for your contribution for such rituals and say, “It’s not a problem, just give us money, we are going to do it ourselves ” do not agree. Once you give them money, you are spiritually connecting yourself to dead spirits.
If you need wisdom, ask God. The dead cannot speak to the living. In Luke 16:19–31, when the rich man in hell asked Abraham to send Lazarus to warn his brothers, Abraham said it was not possible. God has already sent His prophets and His Son to speak to us. Hebrews 1:1–2 says that in these last days, God speaks to us through His Son, Jesus Christ. Repent and depend on Jesus alone.
*Prayer:* Lord Jesus, close every doorway to familiar spirits in my life and fill me with Your Holy Spirit.
